Design Tips

Here are some design tips that may help you get the best looking window project.

Grids
If done tastefully, consistent with the architectural aesthetics of your house, grids look great. We suggest that you start by looking at your neighbors' windows and taking note if there's a house that you find particularly attractive. Make a point of studying the windows and trying to visualize if that design would work for your home. Your Sales Rep can help you with the aesthetics aspect of grids.

Front of Your Home
We often recommend that homeowners spend a little bit more on the front of their house, putting in grids. If cutting costs is a concern, we then suggest that homeowners then save a little on the side and back rooms by putting in simple windows without grids.

Interior Trim
If a home has a plain sheet rock interior with just a window sill, adding trim around that

window can really enhance the look of the whole room. We often recommend doing this in just the master bedroom, living room, or kitchen.

French Doors
We suggest that you look at French doors. If you have a sliding door that you've gotten tired of, you might think about French doors. French doors are patio doors that swing open rather than slide. This can be a nice way of opening up onto a patio or a garden.

Change Opening Size
Some folks decide to make a smaller window larger. If you have a bedroom that has a small window, or a window that looks out over a backyard or a garden, it might be worth the additional investment. We can do the structural work of making a small window into a larger window or patio door. It's a very nice way of bringing more light into a room, or allowing a room to have access to the backyard or garden.

Bay Windows & Garden Windows

A bay window can really enhance the interior of a room, transforming a tract design room in to a designer showpiece. Bay windows create the feeling of being out of the room and in the garden, back yard or front yard. They also allow additional light into the room and add the feeling of extra living space in a room.

Garden windows are also popular. Garden windows are not bay windows. They're a window that is usually placed over the kitchen sink or somewhere in the kitchen. Plants love to grow in the sunlight of garden windows.
